Air Purifiers
What is a Prefilter and how does it work?
The prefilter is the fabric layer that covers the exterior of your filter to capture larger particles such as dust and hair. Think of it as the first line of defense against airborne contaminants.
- On the BreatheSmart 75i, the prefilter is a white screen material.
- All other Alen BreatheSmart purifiers use a black felt-like material. These prefilters attach to your filter using Velcro-like strips for easy removal and replacement. We recommend cleaning by vacuuming, but not washing.
Alen prefilters are now stronger, longer-lasting, and easier to clean. Committed to innovation and improvement, we believe durability goes hand-in-hand with purifying performance.
Prefilter Care
Cleaning your prefilter is simple. It’s the best way to extend the life of your filter and keep your purifier working at peak efficiency.
When you see hair and dusty buildup, follow these steps to clean your pre-filter:
- Turn off your purifier and remove the front panel.
- Vacuum the pre-filter in place.
- Replace the purifier’s front panel and turn power back on.
