With blazes of historic proportions raging across much of the western United States, there are many that are worried about the health effects of breathing the smoke. If you live far from the fires, but still are seeing the smoke, are you still affected by them?
Unfortunately, the ashes, soot, and chemicals from forest fires can be a serious health concern, especially for the elderly, the very young (with those developing lungs!) and those with lung or heart concerns.
If you fall into any of those categories, or have loved ones who do, we recommend using an air purifier to clean your indoor air. While your home’s HVAC system may filter out some of the larger particles from smoke, the smallest particulate matter (PM) is actually the biggest danger, as it can pass from the lungs into the bloodstream.
If you are buying your first air purifier, we recommend the BreatheSmart FIT50, equipped with our HEPA-FreshPlus filter.
Looking to cover a bit more area? Consider the BreatheSmart, also equipped with the FreshPlus filter.
The HEPA-FreshPlus filter will remove not only the particles in smoke (ashes and soot), some of which is mere microns across, but it will also remove the chemicals & gases associated with wood fires.
